User Permissions

Assigning the right level of access helps teams collaborate efficiently while protecting sensitive deal information. This article outlines the distinct permissions for Admins, Editors, and Viewers.

Admin

Admins have full, unrestricted access across the platform. They oversee user permissions, roles, and global configurations.

Permissions & Capabilities:

  • Global read/write access to all deals, regardless of assignment.
  • Can create, edit, rename, or delete custom deal roles.
  • Can assign roles to team members and modify deal teams.
  • Can override any role assignment.
  • Has access to organization-wide settings and filters (e.g., “Add to All Deals” configuration).
  • Can filter all deals and users.

Limitations:

None. Admins are the highest authority in the system.

Editor

Editors are deal team members with full editing rights on the deals to which they are assigned.

Permissions & Capabilities:

  • Send placement emails
  • Upload, view, and download deal documents
  • Edit the Dealbook and Terms
  • Modify deal team members and their roles
  • Change their own role or remove themselves from a deal
  • Receive deal notifications by default (with the option to opt out)

Limitations:

  • Cannot access deals that they are not explicitly assigned to.
  • If an Editor downgrades themselves to Viewer, they must contact an Admin to regain Editor access.

Viewer 

Viewers are assigned to a deal in a read-only capacity.

Permissions & Capabilities:

  • Read-only access to placement emails, deal documents, Dealbook, and Terms.
  • Can see their role and other team members' roles on the deal.

Limitations:

  • Cannot edit or upload any deal content.
  • Cannot send emails
  • Cannot modify the deal team
  • Do not receive notifications (and cannot opt in)
  • Cannot change their own role or remove themselves.
